He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Comin' home to a place he'd never been before He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again You might say he found a key for every door When he first came to the mountains his life was far away On the road and hangin' by a song But the string's already broken and he doesn't really care It keeps changin' fast and it don't last for long But the Colorado rocky mountain high I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye Rocky mountain high He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below He saw everything as far as you can see And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun And he lost a friend but kept his memory Now he walks in quiet solitude the forest and the streams Seeking grace in every step he takes His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake And the Colorado rocky mountain high I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply Rocky mountain high Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more More people, more scars upon the land And the Colorado rocky mountain high I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky I know he'd be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly Rocky mountain high It's Colorado rocky mountain high I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky Friends around the campfire and everybody's high Rocky mountain high |

There's a storm across the valley, clouds are rollin' in
The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders. There's a truck out on the four lane a mile or more away The whinin' of his wheels just makes it colder. He's an hour away from ridin' on your prayers up in the sky, And ten days on the road are barely gone, There's a fire softly burnin', supper's on the stove, But it's the light in your eyes that makes him warm, Hey, it's good to be back home again, Sometimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend, Hey, it's good to be back home again. There's all the news to tell him, how'd you spend your time, And what's the latest thing the neighbors say? And your mother called last Friday "Sunshine" made her cry, And you felt the baby move just yesterday. Hey, it's good to be back home again. Sometimes this old farm seems like a long-lost friend. Hey it's good to be back home again. And oh the time that I can lay this tired old body down, And feel your fingers feather soft upon me. The kisses that I live for, the love that lights my way, The happiness that livin' with you brings me. It's the sweetest thing I know of just spending time with you It's the little things that make a house a home. Like a fire softly burnin' and supper on the stove and the Light in your eyes that make me warm. Hey, it's good to be back home again. Sometimes this old arm feels like a long-lost friend. Hey, it's good to be back home again. Hey, it's good to be back home again. Sometimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend. Hey, it's good to be back home again. |

I Guess He?d Rather Be In Colorado
I guess he'd rather be in Colorado He'd rather spend his time out where the sky looks like a pearl after a rain Once again I see him walkin Once again I hear him talking to the stars he makes and asking them for bus fare I guess he'd rather be in Colorado He'd rather play his banjo in the morning when the moon is scarcely gone In the dawn the subways comin in the dawn I hear him hummin' Some old song he wrote of love in Boulder Canyon I guess he'd rather be in Colorado I guess he'd rather be in Colorado I guess he'd rather work out where the only thing you earn is what you spend In the end up in his office In the end a quiet cough is all he has to show He lives in New York City |

I had an uncle name of Matthew
He was his father's only boy Born just south of Colby, Kansas He was his mother's pride and joy Yes, and joy was just a thing that he was raised on Love was just a way to live and die Gold was just a windy Kansas wheatfield Blue was just the Kansas summer sky All the stories that he told me Back when I was just a lad All the mem'ries that he gave me All the good times that he had Growin' up a Kansas farm boy Life is mostly havin' fun Ridin' on his daddy's shoulders Behind a mule beneath the sun Yes, and joy was just a thing that he was raised on Love was just a way to live and die Gold was just a windy Kansas wheatfield Blue was just the Kansas summer sky Well, I guess there were some hard times And I'm told some years were lean They had a storm in 'forty seven A twister came and stripped 'em clean He lost the farm and lost his family He lost the wheat and lost his home But he found the family Bible A faith as solid as a stone Yes, and joy was just a thing that he was raised on Love was just a way to live and die Gold was just a windy Kansas wheatfield Blue was just the Kansas summer sky And so he came to live at our house And he came to work the land He came to ease my daddy's burden And he came to be my friend And so I wrote this down for Matthew And it's for him this song is sung Ridin' on his daddy's shoulders Behind a mule beneath the sun Yes, and joy was just a thing that he was raised on Love was just a way to live and die Gold was just a windy Kansas wheatfield Blue was just the Kansas summer sky Yes, and joy was just a thing that he was raised on Love was just a way to live and die Gold was just a windy Kansas wheatfield Blue was just the Kansas summer sky |

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry. Sunshine on the water looks so lovely. If I had a day that I could give you I'd give to you a day just like today. If I had a song that I could sing for you I'd sing a song to make you feel this way. Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy. Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry. Sunshine on the water looks so lovely. If I had a tale that I could tell you I'd tell a tale sure to make you smile. If I had a wish that I could wish for you I'd make a wish to sunshine all the while. Sunshine almost the time makes me high

Where the walker runs down
to the Carson Valley Plain There lived a maiden, Darcy Farrow was her name The daughter of old Dundee and a fair one was she The sweetest flower that bloomed o'er the range Her voice was as sweet as the sugar candy Her touch was as soft as a bed of goose down Her eyes shone bright like the pretty lights That shine in the night out of Yerrington town She was courted by Young Vandamere A fine lad was he as I am to hear He gave her silver rings and lacy things And she promised to wed before the snows came that year But her pony did stumble and she did fall Her dyin' touched the hearts of us one and all Young Vandy in his pain put a bullet through his brain And we buried them together as the snows began to fall They sing of Darcy Farrow where the Truckee runs through They sing of her beauty in Virginia City too At dusky sundown to her name they drink a round and to young Vandy whose love was true |

He was born in the Bitteroot Valley
In the early morning rain Wild geese over the water Headin' north and home again Bringin' a warm wind from the south Bringin' the first taste of the spring His mother took him to her breast And softly she did sing CHORUS: Oh Montana, give this child a home Give him the love of a good family And a woman of his own Give him a fire in his heart Give him a light in his eyes Give him the wild wind for a brother And the wild Montana Skies His mother died that summer And he never learned to cry He never knew his father And he never did ask why He never knew the answers That would make an easy way But he learned to know the wilderness And to be a man that way His mother's brother took him in To his family and his home Gave him a hand that he could lean on And a strength to call his own And he learned to be a farmer And he learned to love the land And he learned to read the seasons And he learned to make a stand CHORUS On the eve of his 2lst birthday He set out on his own He was 30 years and runnin' When he found his way back home Ridin' a storm across the mountains And an aching in his heart Said he came to turn the pages And to make a brand new start Now he never told a story Of the time that he was gone Some say he was a lawyer Some say he was a John There was somethin' in the city That he said he couldn't breathe And there was somethin' in the country That he said he couldn't leave CHORUS Now some say he was crazy And they're glad that he is gone But some of us will miss him And we'll try to carry on Giving a voice to the forest Giving a voice to the dawn Giving a voice to the wilderness And the land that he lived on |

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go,
I'm standing here outside your door, I hate to wake you up to say good-bye. But the dawn is breakin', It's early morn, The taxi's waitin' He's blowin' his horn, Already I'm so lonesome I could die. So kiss me and smile for me, Tell me that you'll wait for me, Hold me like you'll never let me go. 'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane, Don't know when I'll be back again, Oh, babe, I hate to go. There's so many times I've let you down So many times I've played around, I tell you now they don't mean a thing. Ev'ry place I go I'll think of you, Ev'ry song I sing I'll sing for you, When I come back I'll bring your wedding ring. So kiss me and smile for me, Tell me that you'll wait for me, Hold me like you'll never let me go. 'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane, Don't know when I'll be back again, Oh, babe, I hate to go. Now the time has come to leave you, One more time let me kiss you, Then close your eyes I'll be on my way. Dream about the days to come When I won't have to leave alone, About the times I won't have to say: Kiss me and smile for me. Tell me that you'll wait for me, Hold me like you'll never let me go. 'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane, Don't know when I'll be back again, Oh, babe, I hate to go. I'm leavin' on a jet plane, Don't know when I'll be back again, Oh, babe, I hate to go. |

All of her days have gone soft and cloudy
All of her dreams have gone dry All of her nights have gone sad and shady She's getting ready to fly Fly away, fly away, fly away Life in the city can make you crazy For sounds of the sand and the sea Life in a high-rise can make you hungry For things that you can't even see Fly away, fly away, fly away In this whole world there's nobody as lonely as she There's nowhere to go and there's nowhere that she'd rather be She's looking for lovers and children playing She's looking for signs of the spring She listens for laughter and sounds of dancing She listens for any old thing Fly away, fly away, fly away |

It's cold here in the city
It always seems that way And I've been thinking about you almost everyday Thinking about the good times Thinking about the rain Thinking about how bad it feels alone again I'm sorry for the way things are in China I'm sorry things ain't what they used to be But more than anything else I'm sorry for myself 'Cause you're not here with me Our friends all ask about you I say you're doing fine And I expect to hear from you almost anytime But they all know I'm crying And I can't sleep at night They all know I'm dying down deep inside I'm sorry for all the lies I told you I'm sorry for the things I didn't say But more than anything else I'm sorry for myself I can't believe you went away [break] I'm sorry if I took some things for granted I'm sorry for the chains I put on you But more than anything else I'm sorry for myself For living without you It's cold here in the city It always seems that way And I've been thinking about you almost everyday |

You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest Like the mountains in springtime Like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert Like a sleepy blue ocean You fill up my senses 당신은 내 마음을 풍요롭게 해줍니다 Come fill me again 게속 풍요롭게 해주세요 Come let me love you 당신을 사랑하겠어요 Let me give my life to you Let me drown in your laughter Let me die in your arms Let me lay down beside you 당신의 옆에 누울 수 있도록 Let me always be with you Come let me love you 당신을 사랑하게 해주세요 Come love me again 다시 한번 사랑하도록 해주세요 Let me give my life to you Come let me love you 당신을 사랑하게 해 주세요 Come love me again 다시 사랑해 주세요 You fill up my senses Like a night in a forest Like the mountains in springtime Like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert Like a sleepy blue ocean You fill up my senses 당신은 내 마음을 풍요롭게 해줍니다 Come fill me again 게속 풍요롭게 해주세요 |

I've been lately thinking about my life's time
all the things I've done and how it's been, and I can't help believin' in my own mind I know I'm gonna hate to see it end. I've seen a lot of sunshine slept out in the rain spent a night or two all on my own I've known my lady's pleasures had myself some friends spent a time or two in my own home. Days they pass so quickly now, the nights are seldom long time around me whispers when it's cold. The changes somehow frightens me, still I have to smile it turns me on to think of growing old. It's tho' my life's been good to me there's still so much to do so many things my mind has never known I'd like to raise a fam'ly I'd like to sail away dance across the mountains on the moon. Ref.) I have to say it now it's been good life all in all, it's really fine to have a chance to hang around. and lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire, while all my friends and my old lady sit and pass a pipe around and talk of poems and prayers and promises and things that we believe in, how sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care, how long it's been since yesterday what about tomorrow and what about our dreams and all the memories we share |

To sail on a dream on a crystal clear ocean
To ride on the crest of the wild raging storm To work in the service of life and the living In search of the answers to questions unknown To be part of the movement and part of the growing Part of beginning to understand CHORUS Aye Calypso The place's you've been to The things that you've shown us The stories you tell Aye Calypso I sing to your spirit The men who have served you So long and so well Like the dolphin who guides you You bring us beside you To light up the darkness and show us the way For though we are strangers in your silent world To live on the land we must learn from the sea To be true as the tide And free as a wind-swell Joyful and loving in letting it be CHORUS Aye Calypso The place's you've been to The things that you've shown us The stories you tell Aye Calypso I sing to your spirit The men who have served you So long and so well |
