She says groovy like it's 1969,
gives me peace and love, makes me feel so fine. She's got some crazy notions but I don't mind at all, cause each time she comes around I fall for Groovy Tuesday, Groovy Tuesday Groovy Tuesday, mmm. Summer breezes running wild through her hair, driving through the country, playing games of do or dare. She's got this thing about her, a touch of Tuesday Weld, and I love her more than words can tell. My Groovy Tuesday, Groovy Tuesday, Groovy Tuesday, yeah. And she'll call me on the phone sometimes just to tell me silly things, like she loves the way The Beatles sound when they go "yeah, yeah, yeah." And I love her more than words can tell, My Groovy Tuesday, Groovy Tuesday Groovy Tuesday, hey . . . |

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass Seemed like the real thing, only to find Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind In between What I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine Love is so confusing there's no peace of mind If I fear I'm losing you it's just no good You teasing like you do Once I had a love and it was divine Soon found out I was losing my mind It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind Love's gone behind Lost inside Adorable illusion and I cannot hide I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside We coulda made it cruising, yeah Na na na na na na na . . . Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light Once I had a love and it was a gas Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind |

I know my self too well
from one too many nights I've spent alone crying in my room and trying to get over you. And so I tell my self you're wasting all your time, go on, get up, what you need's a change of scene, so I dress up and I go out on the town, walking around, spending my money on things I don't need, a new magazine, and a movie I've already seen. Then when it's over I go out among the crowd, hoping that I'II meet a stranger's glance, but all I see are people in love all around. And i remember the way that we were, it breaks my heart in two, and I'II never, no I'II never, no I'II never admit that we're through. I know my self too well. I won't ever stop loveing you. |

She never knows the right words to say,
but she tries so hard, laughing too long and in all the wrong places. She overhears some words not meant for her ears and then pretends to smile. And she dreams (that she can make them like her) And she dreams (she's so beautiful) She gets so lost in these scenes and sometimes she forgets they're only dreams. Her mother calls so she tells a lie about how she has met the sweetest guy. She dresses up, with thoughts of romance and love to carry her away. And she dreams (that she can make him love her) And she dreams (she's so beautiful) She gets so lost in these scenes and she dreams, and she dreams, and she dreams. |

Amateur hour,
singing in your low-cut cowboy dress with your sparklers and your lipstick smeared for your little baby boy. If I say you're trying too hard would it make you try much harder, or would you do what you always do just smile and take a bow. Amateur hour, jumping through a real live wedding ring to the other side with your family plot to save the whole wide world. If you say I'm thinking too much would it make me think much different, or would I say what I always say I'll muddle through somehow. I'd never say you're wrong but still I think you're wrong to believe that this might change your life, change your life. If I say you're trying too hard would it make you try much harder, or would you do what you always do just smile and take a bow. |
