INTRODUCTION
아름다운 민요와 삶의 이야기들을 씨앗으로 문학적인 상상력이 넘치는 아우라로 독특하게 창조된 켈틱 뉴에이지에는 삶의 강한 의지와 자연을 향한 경외감이 넘친다. 일일이 열거할 수 없을 만큼 꾸준히 재창조되고 있는 켈틱 뉴에이지의 정수를 두장의 음반에 모은Celtic New Age에는 <태양의 서커스Cirque Du Soleil>의 작곡자이자 음악감독 으로 명성이 높은 캐나다 출신의 Rene Dupere(르네 뒤프리), 법학도이면서도 클래식 음악을 공부하기도 한 Meav(메이브), 1996년에 정식 데뷔하여 짧지 않은 경륜을 가진 가수로 클라나드, 에냐, 알탄 등에 비견되는 음악세계를 인정받고 있는 Aoife(오이피).1970년 이래 켈틱 음악의 큰 기둥으로 존재해온 그룹 Clannad(클라나드)등 현대적이면서도 신비한 켈틱 유산을 표현하는 독특한 음악세계를 선보이고 있다. 우리에게도 잘 알려져 있는 Phil Coulter(필 콜터)는 1983년 이후 아일랜드의 아름다운 자연과 평화의 역사를 대중적인 문법으로 피아노에 담기 시작하여 켈틱 뉴에이지 음악의 전통을 개척한 장본인으로 Sinead O'Connor(시네이드 오코너)가 보컬로 참여한 ’The Shores Of The Swilly'에는 어린 시절 호수에서 잃어버린 동생에 대한 그리움과 슬픔이 담겨있다. 현재 켈틱 뉴에이지 음악의 가장 왕성한 프론트맨들인 데이빗 애그뉴와 데이빗 다운스의 듀오 프로젝트 Fir Na Keol이 들려주는 아름다운 연주곡 'Gaelic Blessing'은 열정과 신비를 내재한 아일랜드의 풍성한 자연과 아일랜드인의 평온한 저녁을 연상케 한다.
CD2에는 아일랜드 음악의 자존심이라고 할 수 있는 RTE Concert Orchestra의 대표앨범으로 알려져 있는 <Celtic Spirit>이 수록되어 있다. Secret Gardent시크릿 가든의 Fionnuala Sherry(피오뇰라 쉐리)가 바로 이 오케스트라의 바이올리니스트로 활동하고 있으며 Meav(메이브) 또한 1996년부터 1999년까지 RTE오케스트라와 함께 세계 연주여행에 참여하기도 하였으며 아일랜드 민요를 바탕으로 한 웅장하고 시원한 관현악곡들 사이사이에서 상큼한 쉼표의 역할을 펼치고 있다. ....  ....
