Taking up my time again,
The one thing I can't stand, The coffee and the conversation never ends when All I really need to find, Is one short clever line, To pinpoint my disgust it's always just too much or not enough, And I'm overwhelmed. So I'll keep it simple for obvious reasons, And I'll say what I should and just hope you believe me, But it never gets easier, No it never gets easier, No, no, no. Sing it to myself again, I can't hear a word you said, The syllables, the sounds just aren't sentences and, All I really want to do, Is tear straight into you, Explode, unload a hail of insults until you finally get it, I'm sick to death. But I'll keep it simple for obvious reasons, (I'll keep it simple) And I'll say what I should and just hope you believe me, (Say what I should) But it never gets easier, No it never gets easier, Oh no, no. A strong distaste for confrontation, Leaves no room for self expression, such a strain to remain so docile, Though don't you know it all takes its toll... But I'll keep it simple for obvious reasons, (I'll keep it simple) And I'll say what I should and just hope you believe me, (Say what I should) But it never gets easier, Aw, it never gets easier, Hell it never gets easier (all I really want to do), Yeah it never gets easier (is tear straight into you), Well it... |

So Later that year, the bodies came home,
To Dover wrapped in flags and lined up in rows, With no one to see and no one to know, They had to keep morale from getting low: And the voice inside my head just repeating, "This is not the way we were told that it was going to be: This is not the way we were told that it was going to be:" (And we know who's to blame) (And we know who's to blame) (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, We did the math, it wasn't worth it after all, (And we know who's to blame) We did the math We did the math (And we know who's to blame) (And we know who's to blame) |

I'm tired.
Cynical and broken, but wiser. Heavy with a sense of resentment, but i used to be so much different, I used to have so much faith when I started. You knew that I always meant it. I knew I could make a difference, I struggled to be heard and then finally, one day people started listening. and I knew it but as soon as it began it was ruined. A slow descent from unique to routine, over and over, "just do it again and this time with feeling". The spotlight. The focus on the friends and the feelings. That made those stupid songs all worth singing. And don't you say a word unless you're pretty sure that you want it analyzed. So we drove for what seemed like days over roads and four lane highways. We said all we had to say and I realized in time that it didn't mean anything. Never, not ever again. Not like that. "It's only a matter of time". |

Tearing out all these open pages, Women and kids of all ages, Millions of men with blank faces, Italicised lies, headlines, bold type Living lives just like deer in headlights, Terrified, blind, and wait to die, I wonder when they'll come get me, I wonder when they'll come get me We want to, have to, need to And we'll tell you when they're hungry again, And we'll tell you when they're hungry again, It never ends, never ends We want to, have to, need to And we'll tell you when they're hungry again, And we'll tell you when they're hungry again, It never ends, never ends, never ends Big shot screaming, "Put your hands in the sky," He says, "Give it up boy, give it up or your gonna die, You'll get a bullet in the back of the neck, In the back of the neck right between the eyes." Big shot screaming, "Put your hands in the sky," He says, "Give it up boy, give it up or your gonna die, You'll get a bullet in the back of the neck, In the back of the neck right between the eyes." Oh my name it ain't nothin'
My age it means less The country I come from Is called the Midwest I's taught and brought up there The laws to abide And that land that I live in Has God on its side. Oh the history books tell it They tell it so well The cavalries charged The Indians fell The cavalries charged The Indians died Oh the country was young With God on its side. I've learned to hate others All through my whole life If another war starts It's then we must fight To hate them and fear them To run and to hide And accept it all bravely With God on my side Oh the First World War, boys It closed out its fate The reason for fighting I never got straight But I learned to accept it Accept it with pride For you don't count the dead When God's on your side. When the Second World War, boys Came to an end We forgave the Germans And we were friends Though they murdered six million In the ovens they died The Germans now too Have God on their side. But now we got weapons Of chemical dust If fire them we're forced to Then fire them we must One push of the button And a shot the world wide And you never ask questions When God's on your side. In a many dark hours I've been thinkin' about this That Jesus Christ Was betrayed by a kiss But I can't think for you You'll have to decide Whether Judas Iscariot Had God on his side. So now as I'm leavin' I'm weary as Hell The confusion I'm feelin' Ain't no tongue can tell My words fill the air They fall to the floor That if God's on our side He'll stop the next war. |
