“[Until June]은 여행에 관한 이야기를 담은 앨범이다. 우리가 유랑했던 기록을 담은 앨범이고, 잃어버린 사랑, 그리고 새로 찾은 사랑에 관한 앨범이다.”
데뷔 앨범 [Until June]은 아워 레디이 피스, 켈리 클락슨 등의 앨범을 맡아 온 경력이 있는 브라이언 가르시아(Brian Garcia)의 프로듀스로 완성됐다. CCM 매거진을 비롯한 각종매체들은 아름다운 선율과 건반이 메인 선율이 되는 진행을 두고 언틸 준의 유사 밴드로 킨, 콜드플레이, 벤 폴즈를 거론하기도 했다.
30분이 조금 넘는 짧은 재생시간 동안 언틸 준은 데뷔 앨범에 간결하고 명확하게 밴드의 색깔을 담았다. 완성된 음악의 키워드는 진솔함과 희망이라 말할 만하다. 훌륭한 장비나 실험적인 전개 대신 보컬과 연주의 직관적이고 낭만적인 힘을 믿었던 밴드는 메이저 선율로 채워진 긍정적인 멜로디로 안식과 평화의 노래를 수록했다. 보컬 조시 발라드는 가성과 진성을 일정한 비율로 섞어 밴드가 추구하는 섬세함과 아름다움을 노래했다.
가장 두드러지는 곡은 앨범의 문을 여는 첫 번째 트랙 ‘Sleepless’로, 후렴구의 가성이 오랫동안 귓전을 떠나지 않는다. 블로그 검색을 통해서도 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 노래다. 이어지는 ‘What I’ve Done’을 비롯해 ‘The Saddest Song’, 그리고 앨범의 마지막 곡 ‘You Do’는 공식 앨범 발표 이전 2006년 마무리했던 EP의 수록곡으로, 밴드의 가능성을 예측하는 단서가 되었던 곡이다. CCM(Contemporary Christian Music)의 ‘크리스찬’과 ‘컨템포러리’ 성향을 공평하게 잘 살린 멜로디가 아름답다.
