What a beautiful thought I am thinking
Concerning a great speckled bird Remember her name is recorded On the pages of God's Holy Word. All the other birds are flocking 'round her And she is despised by the squad But the great speckled bird in the Bible Is one with the great church of God. All the other churches are against her They envy her glory and fame They hate her because she is chosen And has not denied Jesus' name. Desiring to lower her standard They watch every move that she makes They long to find fault with her teachings But really they find no mistake. She is spreading her wings for a journey She's going to leave by and by When the trumpet shall sound in the morning She'll rise and go up in the sky. In the presence of all her despisers With a song never uttered before She will rise and be gone in a moment Till the great tribulation is o'er. I am glad I have learned of her meekness I am proud that my name is on her book For I want to be one never fearing The face of my Savior to look. When He cometh descending from heaven On the cloud that He writes in His Word I'll be joyfully carried to meet Him On the wings of that great speckled bird. |

Who did you say it was brother?
Who was it fell by the way? When whiskey and blood run together Did you hear anyone pray? CHORUS I didn't hear nobody pray, dear brother I didn't hear nobody pray I heard the crash on the highway But, I didn't hear nobody pray. When I heard the crash on the highway I knew what it was from the start I went to the scene of destruction And a picture was stamped on my heart. There was whiskey and blood all together Mixed with glass where they lay Death played her hand in destruction But I didn't hear nobody pray. I wish I could change this sad story That I am now telling you But there is no way I can change it For somebody's life is now through. Their soul has been called by the Master They died in a crash on the way And I heard the groans of the dying But, I didn't hear nobody pray. CHORUS |

(In My Heart)
I know not where on earth to find you I know not how or when to start I only know I'm here without you I've got Pins And Needles in my heart. The days and night are growing longer Since first you said that we must part I only know I can't forget you With these Pins And Needles in my heart. I always see your face before me Your smile is heaven's work of art But now you're smiling at another And there's Pins And Needles in my heart. Sometime, somewhere, we'll meet again, dear Then love will make the teardrops start Someday you'll know, how long I've waited With these Pins And Needles in my heart. |

When the road is rocky and you're carrying the load
Wait for the light to shine If you find your friendless on that weary lonesome road Wait for the light to shine Wait for the light to shine shine shine wait for the light to shine Pull yourself together keep on looking for the sign Wait for the light to shine [ accordion ] Don't forget your brother as you travel through the land Wait for the light to shine He may be in trouble and may need a helping hand Wait for the light to shine Wait for the light to shine shine shine wait for the light to shine Never give up hope or cast your pearls and pour this wine Wait for the light to shine [ fiddle ] Don't let trouble fool you and your sin will all be gone Wait for the light to shine Don't forget his darknest just before the break of dawn Wait for the light to shine Wait for the light to shine shine shine wait for the light to shine Keep these words before you as you walk out narrow line Wait for the light to shine |

Listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar
As she glides along the woodland, o'er the hills and by the shore Hear the rush of the mighty engine, hear the lonesome hobo's call He's riding through the jungle on the Wabash Cannnonball Now the western states are dandies, so the southern people say From Chicago and St. Louis and Peoria by the way To the lake of Minnesota, where the rippling waters flow No chances to be taken on the Wabash Cannonball Listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar As she glides along the woodland, o'er the hills and by the shore Hear the rush of the mighty engine, hear the lonesome hobo's call He's riding through the jungle on the Wabash Cannonball She pulled in to the station one cold December day As she rolled up to the platform, you could hear all the people say "Now there's a gal from Birmingham, she's long and she's tall She came down from Georgia on the Wabash Cannonball" Listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar As she glides along the woodland, o'er the hills and by the shore Hear the rush of the mighty engine, hear the lonesome hobo's call He's riding through the jungle on the Wabash Cannonball Now here's to Daddy Claxton, may his name forever stand And always be remembered in the courts of all the land His earthly race is over and as the curtain falls We'll carry him back to Dixie on the Wabash Cannonball Wabash Cannonball Listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar As she glides along the woodland, o'er the hills and by the shore Hear the rush of the mighty engine, hear the lonesome hobo's call He's riding through the jungle on the Wabash Cannonball |

I was born in dixie in a boomer? shack,
Just a little old shanty by a railroad track, The humminof the drivers was my lullaby, And a freight train whistle taught me how to cry. Chorus: I?e got the freight train blues, lordy, lordy, lordy, Got ??m in the bottom of my ramblin shoes, And when that whistle blows, I?e gotta go, oh! lordy! guess I? never gonna lose, The mean old freight train blues. now my pappy was a fireman and my mammy dear, Was the only daughter of an engineer, My sister married a brakeman and it ain? no joke, Now it? a shame the way she keeps a good man broke. Chorus: I?e got the freight train blues, lordy, lordy, lordy, Got ??m in the bottom of my ramblin shoes, And when the whistle blows, I?e gotta go, oh! lordy! guess I? never gonna lose, The mean old freight train blues. |

In the twilight glow I see her blue eyes crying in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted I knew we'd never meet again Love is like a dying ember only memories remain Through the ages I'll remember blue eyes crying in the rain Now my hair has turned to silver all my life I've loved in vain I can see her star in heaven blue eyes crying in the rain Some day when we meet up yonder we'll stroll hand in hand again In a land that knows no parting blue eyes crying in the rain |
