INTRODUCTION
다이애나 로스(Diana Ross)는 솔로 아티스트로서, 그리고 그룹 슈프림스(The Supremes)의 리더로서 헐리우드 명예의 거리(Hollywood Walk of Fame)에 두 개의 별을 가지고 있는 관록의 디바이다. 1970년 슈프림스를 떠나면서 솔로활동을 시작한 후에도 그녀는 가수로서는 물론이고, 배우로서도 꾸준한 활동을 이어갔고, 그러던 중 1 976년에 발표한 동명의 타이틀 앨범 [Diana Ross]로 동시대 디바들 중에서도 단연 돋보이는 기록의 아티스트로 기억되게 되었다.
그녀는 이 앨범에서 데뷔 이후 처음으로 한 앨범 안에 네 개의 히트 싱글을 발표하기도 했고, 수록곡 ‘Love Hangover’로는 그래미 어워즈 최우수 R&B 여성 보컬 퍼포먼스(Best R&B Female Vocal Performance) 부문에 노미네이트 되기도 했다(이 곡은 다이애나 로스의 싱글곡 중 가장 많이 샘플링되는 디스코넘버이다.).
그리고 2012년, 다이애나 로스에게 명예와 성공을 동시에 안겨준 이 앨범 [Diana Ross]가 ‘디지털 리마스터링’ 된 디럭스 에디션의 버전으로 새롭게 출시되게 되었다.
새롭게 발매되는 [Diana Ross] 앨범에는 리마스터 작업이 이루어진 오리지널 앨범의 수록곡들이 모두 포함되어있고 믹스싱글과 프로모션용 미공개 싱글곡(Coming Home)까지도 수록되어있어, 그 동안 다이애나 로스의 디스코그래피에서 볼 수 없었던 다양한 종류의 음악이 선보여질 예정이다. 특히 두 번째 디스크에 수록된 곡 ‘Harmony’는 다이애나 로스가 엘튼 존(Elton John)의 고전을 커버한 퍼포먼스로 지금껏 한 번도 공개된 적이 없었던, 이번 디럭스 에디션만의 특별 수록곡이라 할 수 있다.
이 밖에도 이번 앨범에는 오리지널 버전의 거의 전곡이 얼터너티브 믹스 버전으로 다뤄지고 있어 원곡의 사운드를 더욱 풍성하게 해주었고, 1976년 앨범 발매 이후 가졌던 다이애나 로스의 인터뷰 음성이 36년 만에 처음으로 공개되어 [Diana Ross] 앨범작업을 둘러싼 비하인드 스토리까지 직접 들어볼 수 있는 기회가 마련되었다. ....  ....
