지구를 우리는 푸른별 이라고 한다. 지구의 색깔을 결정하는 것이 대기(大氣)와 물이 있기 때문이다. 30% 의 녹색의 땅과 지구의 대부분을 차지하는 60% 의 깊은 바다와 두꺼운 공기층이 지구를 푸르게 보이게 한다고 한다. 또한
두꺼운 공기층이 우주외부로 부터 지구를 보호하는 역할을 한다고 한다. 1961년 4월 12일 소련의
우주인 가가린은 처음으로 우주공간에 떠있는 지구를 보고 “지구가 잘 보인다. 지구가 아름답다. 지구는 파랗다"라고
외쳤다.1969년 인류최초로 달에 착륙하여 첫발을 내딛은 암스트롱 역시 우주공간에
떠있는 지구의 모습을 보고 한동안 넋을 잃고 쳐다 보았다고 한다. 그는 파란물과 녹색의 땅 하얀 구름이
베일처럼 드리워져 있는 지구를 보고 ‘아름다운 보석’이라고
불렀다. 요즘들어 도심에서
하늘을 바라보면 맑고 푸르른 하늘을 보기가 어려워 졌다. 점점 지구의 온난화가 가속화되고, 이산화탄소, 미세먼지 등으로 인하여 하늘이 뿌옇게 되고, 심지어 가장깊은 심해에서 조차 사람들이 사용하고 버린 플라스틱 조각이 발견 되었다. 사람들의 이기적이고 무책임함으로 인하여, 잘 인식하지 못하는 사이 지구는 점점 오염이 되가고, 그에따라 사람들 자신도 모르게 조금씩 병들어가고 있는건 아닐까 생각해 본다. 우리 자신의 건강을 지키는 것이 우리 자신의 몫 이듯이, 아름답고 푸르른 지구를 지키고 가꾸는 것 또한 우리자신의 몫이기도 하다. 이 음악과 함께, 푸르른 하늘 공간속을 자유롭게 누리는 상상을 하며 느껴 보도록 하자.
