Remember it's just you and me Don't sell out, bow out Remember how this used to be Just want you know something, is that alright? Baby let's get closer, tonight Grant my last request and just let me hold you Don't shrug your shoulders Lay down beside me Sure I can accept that we're going nowhere But one last time let's go there Lay down beside me I've found that I'm bound to wander down that long way road And I realize all about your lies, But I'm no wiser than the fool that I was before Just want you know something, is that alright? Baby let's get closer, tonight Grant my last request and just let me hold you Don't shrug your shoulders Lay down beside me Sure I can accept that we're going nowhere But one last time let's go there Lay down beside me Baby baby baby Tell me how can, how can this be wrong Grant my last request and just let me hold you Don't shrug your shoulders Lay down beside me Sure I can accept that we're going nowhere But one last time let's go there Lay down beside me |

Oh the phone you know it never stops,
it′s the last thing I hear at night and the first thing in the morning. and as I let it start to burn my head, you slowly creep into bed and i′m done talking you say you know how i′m feeling, I just need to try to settle down Oh a million faces pass my way Oh they′re all the same, nothing seems to change anytime I look around Oh who knows just what the future holds all I want to know is if it′s with you Tired as hell and falling up the stairs, filled with a thousand cares as you walk out from the bedroom though it feels like all my fire has gone, you just turn me on can′t believe how much I want you you say you know how i′m feeling, I just need to try to settle down Oh a million faces pass my way Oh they′re all the same, nothing seems to change anytime I look around Oh who knows just what the future holds all I want to know is if it′s with you we′re distracted by the hard times, and the troubles that we make let us throw them in the ocean, let it wash our cares away oh the phone you know it never stops, it′s the last thing I hear at night and the first thing in the morning Oh a million faces pass my way Oh they′re all the same, nothing seems to change anytime I look around Oh who knows just what the future holds all I want to know is if it′s with you we′re distracted by the hard times, and the troubles that we make let us throw them in the ocean, let it wash our cares away we′re distracted by the hard times, and the troubles that we make let us throw them in the ocean, let it wash our cares away |

Cross the border,
Into the big bad world Where it takes you 'bout an hour Just to cross the road Just to stumble across another poor old soul from The dreary old lanes to the high-street madness Eye fight with my brain to believe my eyes And it's harder than you think To believe this sadness That creeps up my spine And haunts me through the night And life is good and the girls are gorgeous Suddenly the air smells much greener now And I'm wondering 'round With a half pack of cigarettes Searching for the change that I've lost somehow These streets have too many names for me I'm used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in Arkie I'll get used to this eventually I know, I know Where'd the days go? When all we did was play And the stress that we were under wasn't stress at all Just a run and a jump into a harmless fall from Walking by a high-rise to a landmark square You see millions of people with millions of cares And I struggle to the train to make my way home I look at the people as they sit there alone Life is good, and the sun is shining Everybody flirts to their ideal place And the children all smile as a boat shuffled by them Trying to pretend that they've got some space These streets have too many names for me I'm used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in Arkie I'll get used to this eventually I know, I know These streets have too many names for me I'm used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in Arkie I'll get used to this eventually I know, I know Life is good, and the girls are gorgeous Suddenly the air smells much greener now And I'm wondering 'round With a half pack of cigarettes Searching for the change that I've lost somehow These streets have too many names for me I'm used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in Arkie I'll get used to this eventually I know, I know These streets have too many names for me I'm used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in our Arkie I'll get used to this eventually I know, I know |

from Paolo Nutini - Live And Acoustic [ep, live] (2006)
Woke up cold one tuesday, I'm looking tired and feeling quite sick, I felt like there was something missing in my day to day life, So i quickly opened the wardrobe, Pulled out some jeans and a T-Shirt that seemed clean, Topped it off with a pair of old shoes, That were ripped around the seams, And i thought these shoes just don't suit me. Hey, I put some new shoes on, And suddenly everything is right, I said, hey, I put some new shoes on and everybody's smiling, It so inviting, Oh, short on money, But long on time, Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine, And i'm running late, And i dont need an excuse, 'cause i'm wearing my brand new shoes. Woke up late one thursday, And i'm seeing stars as i'm rubbing my eyes, And i felt like there were two days missing, As i focused all the time, And i made my way to the kitchen, But i had to stop from the shock of what i found, A room full of all my friends dancing round and round, And i thought hello new shoes, Byebye them blues. Take me wondering through these streets, Where bright lights and angels meet, Stone to stone they take me on, Im walking to the break of dawn. [x2] Hey, I put some new shoes on, And suddenly everything is right, I said, hey, I put some new shoes on and everybody's smiling, It so inviting, Oh, short on money, But long on time, Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine, And i'm running late, And i dont need an excuse, 'cause i'm wearing my brand new shoes.[x2] Take me wondering through these streets |

Oh you know where you are heading
But you're lost along the way And the strangers that you see are getting stranger everyday And the blood continues flowing But the brain, the brain slowly drifts away You crashed into this city With a smile upon your face And a body charged with music From the earphones in your case And the pressure keeps on growing But paradise, paradise is on it's way And I say No no no we may never know There's enough surprises here to keep us going Yeah yeah yeah Here's another day We're gonna step outside and take it all in Well you're looking for some action As a hunter, you're on fire There's some scary confrontation But never look them in the eye There are miles and miles of pleasures To be had so, no, don't be shy (Never be shy) Now you're drowning in your coffee You're living life so fast One eye is staying golden While the other's seeing black And the blood continues rushing And you realise what's here to be had And I say No no no we may never know There's enough surprises here to keep us going Yeah yeah yeah Here's another day We're gonna step outside and take it all in No no no we may never know There's enough surprises here to keep us going Yeah yeah yeah Here's another day We're gonna step outside and take it all in |

Autumn leaves under frozen soles,
Hungry hands turning soft and old, My hero cried as we stood out their in the cold, Like these autumn leaves I don't have nothing to hold. Handsome smiles wearing handsome shoes, Too young to say, though I swear he knew, And i hear him singing while he sits there in his chair, Now these autumn leaves float around everywhere. And I look at you, and I see me, Making noise so restlessly, But now it's quiet and I can hear you saying, 'My little fish dont cry, my little fish dont cry.' Autumn leaves how faded now, that smile that i've lost, well i've found some how, Because you still live on in my fathers eyes, These autumn leaves, oh these autumn leaves, oh these autumn leaves are yours tonight. mmmmmmm.... |

Coming home again
To see a girl thats prettier than a diamond shining in the sun Oh what fun! I wonder if she's been naked in her room since I've been gone I wonder if she's said to them as she said to me before However much you use me baby, come on use me more However much you use me baby, come on use me more Getting off the train To see a girl thats sweeter than an apple picked from Adam's tree Oh glory be! And I wonder if she's been pressed against an unfamiliar wall And said to all those men as she said to me before However much you want me, I swear I'll make you want me more However much you want me, I swear I'll make you want me more and more and more and more La-la-la, la la la la Arriving at the door Just to be told that the girl I'm missing has been in London for a while No more northern skies for her They say she's left a letter up the stair for everyone It's pinned against her bedroom door for all the world to see and she says However much I love you, you will always love me more However much I love you, you will always love me more And I guess it's true However much she loves me I will always love her more La-la-la la la la la I'll love you more and more, I'll love you more I'll love you more and more, I'll love you more I'll love you more and more, I'll love you more I'll love you more and more, I'll love you more and more and more... |

Oh, oh oh oh
La da da da, da La da da da, da I sit around and wonder About the fire in your eyes The movement of your fingers The way you slowly complicate my life From the time we spent together Which is what led to our demise And how we never can say never But I struggle just to make it through most nights But please never change, never change girl No please never change, never change girl Could it be January 'cause it feels so cold without you here Oh you are the sun Yesterday and everyday seems so plain Now you're not here, my color's gone. I guess nobody's got a eyesight There's nobody got a time There's nobody got a conscience There's no one to pull us back from this divide I don't want to be an island I don't want to be confined, oh Just no more days of torture with you preying on my mind And I said Nothing's gonna change, Nothing is gonna change Nothing's gonna change, never going to change No, no, no, Could it be January 'cause it feels so cold without you here Oh you are the sun Yesterday and everyday seems so plain Now you're not here My color's gone And there's a cold day coming won't you keep me warm There's a cold day coming 'til you come There's a cold day coming won't you keep me warm? There's a cold day coming 'til you come, Oh Oh could it be January 'cause it feels so cold without you here Oh you are the sun Yesterday and everyday oh it seems so plain Now you're not here my color's gone And I say, could it be January 'cause it feels so cold without you here Oh you are the sun Yesterday and everyday oh it seems so plain Now you're not here my color's gone |

I don't know if you can see, the changes that have come over me
In these last few days, I've been afraid that I might drift away And I've been tellin' old stories, singing old songs That made me think about where I came from That's the reason why I seem so far away today Let me tell you that I love you And I think about you all the time Caledonia you're callin' me and now I'm going home But if I should become a stranger You know that it would make me more than sad Caledonia you're the best friend I've ever had Well I've been moved, and I've kept on movin' And I've proved the points that I needed proovin' Lost the friends I needed loosin' Found others on the way And I have kissed the ladies and left some cryin' Stolen dreams...no, there's no denying And I've Partied hard with coattails flyin' Somewhere with the wind Let me tell you that I love you And I think about you all the time Caledonia you're callin' me and now I'm goin' home But if I should become a stranger You know that it would make me more than sad Caledonia you're the best friend I've ever had Let me tell you that I love you And I think about you all the time Caledonia you're callin' me and now I'm goin' home And if I should become a stranger You know that it would make me more than sad Caledonia you're the best friend I've ever had |

I`m looking tired and feeling quite sick I felt like there was something missing in my day to day life so I quickly opened the wardrobe pulled out some jeans and a T-Shirt that seemed clean topped it off with a pair of old shoes that were ripped around the seams and I thought these shoes just don`t suit me hey I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything is right I said hey I put some new shoes on and everybody`s smiling it so inviting owh short on money but long on time slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine and I`m running late and I don`t need an excuse `cause I`m wearing my brand new shoes Woke up late one Thursday And I`m seeing stars as I`m rubbing my eyes And I felt like there were two days missing As I focused all the time And I made my way to the kitchen But I had to stop from the shock of what I found a room full of all my friends all dancing round and round and I thought hello new shoes bye bye blues hey I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything is right I said hey I put some new shoes on and everybody`s smiling it so inviting owh short on money but long on time slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine and I`m running late and I don`t need an excuse `cause I`m wearing my brand new shoes take me wondering through these streets where bright lights and angels meet stone to stone they take me on I`m walking till the break of dawn take me wondering through these streets where bright lights and angels meet stone to stone they take me on I`m walking till the break of dawn hey I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything is right I said hey I put some new shoes on and everybody`s smiling it so inviting owh short on money but long on time slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine and I`m running late and I don`t need an excuse `cause I`m wearing my brand new shoes owh hey I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything is right I said hey I put some new shoes on and everybody`s smiling it so inviting owh short on money but long on time slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine and I`m running late and I don`t need an excuse `cause I`m wearing my brand new shoes |

Sure I can accept that we're going nowhere, But one last time let's go there, Lay down beside me Oh, I've found, that I'm bound To wander down that one way road. Oh the phone you know it never stops, it's the last thing I hear at night and the first thing in the morning. and as I let it start to burn my head, you slowly creep into bed and i'm done talking you say you know how i'm feeling, I just need to try to settle down Oh a million faces pass my way Oh they're all the same, nothing seems to change anytime I look around Oh who knows just what the future holds all I want to know is if it's with you Tired as hell and falling up the stairs, filled with a thousand cares as you walk out from the bedroom though it feels like all my fire has gone, you just turn me on can't believe how much I want you you say you know how i'm feeling, I just need to try to settle down Oh a million faces pass my way Oh they're all the same, nothing seems to change anytime I look around Oh who knows just what the future holds all I want to know is if it's with you we're distracted by the hard times, and the troubles that we make let us throw them in the ocean, let it wash our cares away oh the phone you know it never stops, it's the last thing I hear at night and the first thing in the morning Oh a million faces pass my way Oh they're all the same, nothing seems to change anytime I look around Oh who knows just what the future holds all I want to know is if it's with you we're distracted by the hard times, and the troubles that we make let us throw them in the ocean, let it wash our cares away oh the phone you know it never stops, it's the last thing I hear at night and the first thing in the morning let it wash our cares away, let it wash our cares away... |

Cross the border, Into the big bad world Where it takes you 'bout an hour Just to cross the road Just to stumble across another poor old soul from The dreary old lanes to the high-street madness Eye fight with my brain to believe my eyes And it's harder than you think To believe this sadness That creeps up my spine And haunts me through the night And life is good and the girls are gorgeous Suddenly the air smells much greener now And I'm wondering 'round With a half pack of cigarettes Searching for the change that I've lost somehow These streets have too many names for me I'm used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in Arkie I'll get used to this eventually I know, I know Where'd the days go?

Autumn leaves under frozen soles, Hungry hands turning soft and old, My hero cried as we stood out their in the cold, Like these autumn leaves I don't have nothing to hold. Handsome smiles wearing handsome shoes, Too young to say, though I swear he knew, And i hear him singing while he sits there in his chair, Now these autumn leaves float around everywhere. And I look at you, and I see me, Making noise so restlessly, But now it's quiet and I can hear you saying, 'My little fish dont cry, my little fish dont cry.' Autumn leaves how faded now, that smile that i've lost, well i've found some how, Because you still live on in my fathers eyes, These autumn leaves, oh these autumn leaves, oh these autumn leaves are yours tonight. mmmmmmm.... |

Coming home again To see a girl thats prettier than a diamond shining in the sun Oh what fun! |

Pickin up the pieces of the wreck you went and left
And I'm dealing with dilemmas in my not-so-stressful life And I'm drinking stronger spirits I made my home here on the floor And I'm losing all ambition I'm ghost And I'm going all out And I'm thinking you are just as bad No sleeping at night But I'm going from bar to bar Why can't we just rewind Why can't we just rewind Why can't we just rewind Oh remember at 16 Oh the crazy drunken night we had When I kissed you in the hallway Then I took you straight to bed Well 2 years on And I'm still that same boy I was No sleeping at night You might blame it on me But you persisted that we fold Wiped your hands of me and said you needed more, more, more And I'm not sleeping at night But I'm going from bar to bar Why can't we just rewind Why can't we just rewind Why can't we just rewind |

You said you'd marry me if I was 23
But I'm one that you can't see if I'm only 18 Tell me who made these rules Obviously not you Who are you answering to? Oh, Jenny don't be hasty No, don't treat me like a baby Let me take you where you'll let me Because leaving just upsets me I'll be around again to see the other men They're more adequate in the age department I did not think you cared. There'd be no problems here But now you're looking at me like you're disgusted Then I'm definitely waiting for you to smile and change your mind Then I'll say I'm sorry and I'll wrap my arms 'round your body I really hope that you forgive in a hurry And don't just ask me to leave Oh, Jenny don't be hasty Don't treat me like a baby Let me take you where you'll let me Because leaving just upsets me Oh, Jenny you are crazy! First I'm perfect, then I'm lazy And I was calling you my baby Now it sounds like you just left me. And it kills me! |

All the people wanna try you girl, And I hope you tell them where to go, Cus I've got so much here to offer girl, Oh I love you more than you can know Some people wanna speed it up, Infact I want to slow it down. I wanna get myself dressed up yeah, And take you out on the town I'll be a model pupil tonight, babe. I wanna get ten out of ten. I'll be a model pupil tonight, babe. I wanna get ten out of ten. Everybody's got opinions girl, There own versions of a good idea. But the best one I can think of now, [ Find more Lyrics on www.mp3lyrics.org/YELx ] Is to make sure that I keep you near. And I know that I've got to keep it up, Cus I can see you're feeling down And I wanna get myself dressed up yeah, And take you out on the town I'll be a model pupil tonight, babe. I wanna get ten out of ten. I'll be a model pupil tonight, babe. I wanna get ten out of ten. And get an A in the taxi, A In the restaurant. Get ten out of ten. Get an A in the kitchen And an A in the bedroom I get ten out of ten You make it out of nothing, And turn it into something, And give it to you all for free I'll be a model pupil tonight, babe. I wanna get ten out of ten. |

Sunday morning, got the hazy, hazy janes,
I turn to you and inhale where you lay. Took a wander through the garden, To await the long, long day, And then roll for a while on a violet flowerbed. Oh, you kiss my lips again and again and again, And then again, again We would watch the sun coming up easy, While the rain came tumbling down, And it would wash our bodies so cleanly That we would seem to rise up off of the cold, cold ground It's a shame the way it seems to go But now my best friend, my partner in crime I'm afraid it looks as though we're gonna have to go our separate ways, Oh, See, the thing is, I love you. I love you but you see, I resent you all the same. All my other friends say you're just slowing me down. Oh, but I should have known you'd turn to me and say, Before you through too much of me away Don't you remember watching the sun coming up easy While the rain came tumbling down? And it washes our bodies so cleanly, We just seem to rise up off of the cold, cold ground. I see the sun coming up easy, while the rain came tumbling down. And it washed our bodies so clean That we seemed to rise up off of the cold, cold ground It was in love I was created and in love is how I hope I die. Yeah it was in love I was created and in love is how I hope I die (repeated) We watched the sun coming up easy (repeated) |

Sitting beside you in school, While we’d paint I’d make you laugh. Mine was never very good, Yours looked exactly like the photograph. Looks like I’m growing, I’m growing up beside you. I don’t always get the way you feel, But now I’ve learned to live with that. It’s like I’m a part of something real. I was hittin’ the bottle, now I’ve broken the seal. Looks like I’m growing, I’m growing up beside you And the sun sets the scene, While the rain misses me. And all the time I’ll be growing, Growing up beside you. Oh, The sun sets the scene, While the rain misses me. And all the time I’ll be growing, Growing up beside you. I’m growing, I’m growing up, I’m growing up |

I was perched outside in the pouring rain Trying to make myself a sail Then I'll float to you my darlin' With the evening on my tail Although not the most honest means of travel It gets me there nonetheless I'm a heartless man at worst, babe And a helpless one at best Darling I'll bathe your skin I'll even wash your clothes Just give me some candy, before I go Oh, darling I'll kiss your eyes And lay you down on your rug Just give me some candy After my heart Oh I'm often false explaining But to her it plays out all the same and although I'm left defeated It get's held against my name I know you got plenty to offer baby But I guess I've taken quite enough Well I'm some stain there on your bedsheet You're my diamond in the rough Darling I'll bathe your skin I'll even wash your clothes Just give me some candy before I go Oh, darling I'll kiss your eyes And lay you down on your rug Just give me some candy After my heart I know that there´re writings on the wall But Darling I'll bathe your skin I'll even wash your clothes Just give me some candy After my heart Oh I'll be there waiting for you (repeat) |

Was it love or recognition that has Healed this man's condition I'm hoping and I'm wishing that This bird won't fly away We can see life hand in hand, The green, the blue, the rough, the sand And in our time and in our land We'll savor everyday And oh, how our glory may fade, At least we've learned Some things along the way [ Find more Lyrics on www.mp3lyrics.org/cAMO ] You took me from my bubble Knowing my defense was weak And you sat there and you listened Any time I chose to speak You gathered from my pleas to You that I am but a clown And I fear only a hero can defeat These demons now And oh, how our glory may fade, At least we've learned some Tricks of trade And as time shall inevitably move on, Oh well, at least we'll have four strong Legs to stand on To keep us alive... |

Darlin'
My frustration It gets me, it gets me where it hurts me most. Like five rapid to the gut it's not so easy to see. And I've been gone far, far to long To expect you not to change even a little bit And I guess I hope I'm still the kind of guy Your needin for your fool. Cuz life's a bowl here on the road and these four wheels Oh but something about the whole thing It doesn't feel real Work my days for you Cuz I love you girl, I don't want you I need you And I can't see no other way Darlin' I work my days for you Cuz I love you girl, I don't want you I need you And I can't see no other way Ohhhhh this separation It really gets you thinkin And all those used up those days Well they've worn enough in the wind And I, I wonder if your half as innocent as you assure me Or if you thank him for his time and just never call again Oh oh And after all the lights and shows and long hope lanes It'd be you and me again But until then I work my days for you Cuz I love you girl, I don't want you I need you I can't see no other way Oh darlin' I work my days for you Cuz I love you girl, I don't want you I need you And I can't see no other way Oohh live I'm home So love me And I'm home babe Oh so touch me Yeah I'm home So kiss me, like you do Kiss me babe Babyy But I'll do it for you Ohh babe, yeaahhh babyyy I want you babe I'm, I'm home babe So take me in your arms Oh babe, baby Love me like you do Oh kiss me like you do And baby you bet I'll do it for you Ohh nooo Hold me like you do |

My hopes are high but my eyes
can’t believe what they see, Give me something to believe, gime me something to believe, I got lucky in life and had plenty to eat and I saw this world as one big pool of opportunity But there’s too much mind corruption, too littleremedy (or that’s how it seems to me) Yeah we need a moral education to set the young minds free… So let us change what we can and accept what we can’t Impart some of the wisdom from that tried and tested man There’no harm in being wrong you know no, in fact to me, it’s common ground – yeah so take that feather from you cap sir, and pass that feather around… My hopes are high but my eyes can’t believe what they see, Give me something to believe in, gime me something to believe, My hopes are high but my eyes can’t believe what they see My hopes are high Give me something, give me something to believe |

Sweet little Rosie, my softest machine, Bounces with me on my big trampoline. Childish and silly we're part of a team, Me and my Rose on my big trampoline. I was a shadow, I'd smoke and I'd sleep. 'till you came and I opened like a flower to the heat. And now Rosie she tells me of things that she's seen, With flowers in her hair on my big trampoline. |

If you love the life you live then you’ll get a lot more done Be more inclined to take the reins than turn away and run it’s very rare it seems to get a lifetime guarantee, so I suppose self satisfaction be the key My father is a wealthy, self made man but his wealth does not consist of riches or acres of land Instead he has a family who are his biggest fans That’s something that I one day hope to have So I’ll cherish the simple things the easy took for granted things Like going round my Mum’s house for my tea And argue with my sister, only God knows how I missed her It’s the simple things that mean the most to me Argh, he gets up each day at five Starts the car and makes the drive shutters up, starts the fryers Serves out food to all the buyers in the town As they stand there in the same old line Get there every day at the same old time no, you never hear him grumble and groan Cause they’re the people in the line that he built it on and like me he cherished the simple things the easy took for granted things Like going round his Mum’s house for my tea And argue with his sister, only God knows how he missed her It’s the simple things tha mean the most to… him |

Oh worries are about And heavy on his gut He feels he’s being punished For the bad things he has done Help him Jesus, help him Send him down a sign ‘cos he feel’s he is getting old before his time And he is sitting at the table The table he has set He is begging for the courage to redeem some self respect Help him Jesus, help him Walk along the line ‘cos he feel’s he is getting old before his time He says it takes a worried man To sing a worried song It takes a worried man To sing a worried song It takes a worried man To sing a worried song He is worried now But he won’t be worried long He broke her heart on a warm and sunny day Oh he broke her heart on a warm and sunny day When she heard what he had to say All that sun soon went away He broke her heart on a cold and windy day He says it takes a worried man To sing a worried song It takes a worried man To sing a worried song It takes a worried man To sing a worried song He is worried now But he won’t be worried long And so he moves towards his sweet redeeming light Shadows cast but none obscure his sight And they wonder where he is going While he is knelt before her throat Refusing to go down without a fight He says it takes a worried man To sing a worried song It takes a worried man To sing a worried song It takes a worried man To sing a worried song He is worried now But he won’t be worried long |
