이번 새 앨범 < Battle Studies >를 작업하면서 그는 자신의 장점 버리기를 시도했다. 일단 앨범 전체적인 분위기가 그렇다. 어느 하나 튀는 곡 없이 잔잔히 흘러가는 11곡의 < Battle Studies >는 우리가 몰랐던 존 메이어와, 알고 있었기 때문에 더욱 아쉬웠던 그의 진중한 모습을 확인할 수 있는 계기를 마련한다. 엄청난 성공을 거두었던 그의 세 번째 앨범 < Continuum >이 이전 두 장의 앨범에서 얻은 자신감과 여유로움을 존 메이어만의 브랜드로 승화시켰다면, 이번 < Battle Studies >는 안정권에 들어섰음을 음악으로 에둘러 표현한다. “나는 어떤 특정한 시기를 대표할 수 있는 음악을 하고 싶었다.”

개봉이 기약없어 어둠의 경로를 이용했음. 스티브 카렐의 팬이란 말이다 ㅠ.ㅠ 개봉한 영화는 다 봤고 는 dvd까지 샀다. 는 가슴을 쥐어 뜯으며 본 최고의 코메디 영화였다. 스티브 카렐은 F로 들어가는 욕을 해도 상스러워 보이지 않는 남자다. 그냥 막 웃기고 멋있고 때로는 섹시해 보이기도 한다. 강동원, 원빈이냐 스티브 카렐이냐, 이러면 난 스티브 옵빠를 택하겠다. 역시 중년 취향ㅋㅋㅋ 에서 변태같은.....
