그룹 르네상스의 보컬로 유명한 그녀는유명한 음악가 집안에서 태어났다. 그의 아버지는 아마추어 가수이자 코미디언이었고, 오빠는 60년대 중반 브라이언 엡스타인이 매니저를 맡았던 록앤롤 가수였다. 어린 시절에는 패션디자인에 관심이 많았다고 한다. 대학에 들어와 동네 선술집에서 메리 홉킨의 'Those Were the Days'를 부른 것이 사람들의 호응을 얻으면서 가수로서의 길을 모색, 오페라 가수 Sybil Knight 문하에서 공부를 시작한다. 1970년말 멜로디 메이커의 르네상스 새 보컬리스트 구인광고에 응했는데, 해슬램의 5 옥타브를 넘나드는 수정같은 소프라노 보이스는 당시뿐만 아니라 그후 다른 보컬리스트를 맞았던 르네상스 멤버들에겐 잊을 수 없는 단 하나의 목소리로 각인되었던 것. 르네상스의 프런트 멤버로 활동하면서 1977년 솔로 데뷔앨범을 냈고, 1985년에 앨범 [Still Life]를 발표, 1989년 세번째 솔로앨범을 선보였다. 1993년, 유방암 진단을 받고 투병생활중에도 1994년 [Blessing in Disguise]앨범을 놓았으며, 그로부터 5년 후 [Live Under Brazilian Skies]을, 그리고 2000년 중반에는 [Dawn of Ananda]를 발표했다. .... ....
