Stars shining bright above you
Night breeze seems to whisper I love you Bird singing in the Sycamore tree Dream a little dream of me Saying nightly night and kiss me Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me While I'm alone and blue as can be Dream a little dream of me * Stars fading but I linger on dear Still craving your kiss (how you crave my kiss) I'm longing to linger till dawn dear Just saying this (give me little kiss) ** Sweet dreams till sun beams find you Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you But in your dreams what ever they be Dream a little dream of me *Repeat **Repeat |

Making believe I'm talking to you, wish you could hear what I say And here in the gloom of my lonely room we're dancing like we used to do Making believe is just another way of dreaming, so till my dreams come true I'll whisper "Good night", turn out the light, and kiss my pillow Making believe it's youI'm making believe that you're in my arms though I know you're so far away Making believe I'm talkin' to you, wish you could hear what I say And here in the gloom of my lonely room we're dancing like we used to do Making believe is just another way of dreamin', so till my dreams come true I'll whisper "Good night", turn out the light, and kiss my pillow Making believe it's youAnd here in the gloom of my lonely room we're dancing like we used to doMaking believe is just another way of dreamin', so till my dreams come true I'll whisper "Good night", turn out the light, and kiss my pillowMaking believe it's you |

I never cared much for moonlit skies
I never wink back at fireflies But now that the stars are in your eyes I'm beginning to see the light I never went in for afterglow Or candlelight on the mistletoe But now when you turn the lamp down low I'm beginning to see the light Used to ramble through the park Shadowboxing in the dark Then you came and caused a spark That's a four-alarm fire now I never made love by lantern-shine I never saw rainbows in my wine But now that your lips are burning mine I'm beginning to see the light |

I really can't stay
(But baby it's cold outside) I've got to go away (But baby it's cold outside) This evening has been (Been hoping that you'd drop in) So very nice (I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice) My mother will start to worry (Beautiful what's your hurry) And Father will be pacing the floor (Listen to the fireplace roar) So really I'd better scurry (Beautiful please don't hurry) Well maybe just a half a drink more (Put some records on while I pour) The neighbours might think (But baby it's bad out there) Say what's in this drink? (No cabs to be had out there) I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now) To break the spell (I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell) I ought to say no no no sir (Mind if I move in closer?) At least I'm gonna say that I tried (What's the sense of hurting my pride?) I really can't stay (Oh baby don't hold out) AH BUT ITS COLD OUTSIDE! I simply must go' (But baby it's cold outside) The answer is no' (But baby it's cold outside) The welcome has been (How lucky that you dropped in) So nice and warm (Look out that window at that storm!) My sister will be suspicious (God your lips look delicious!) My brother will be there at the door (Waves upon a tropical shore) My maiden aunt's mind is vicious (God your lips are delicious ) Well maybe just a cigarette more (Never such a blizzard before) I got to get home (But baby you'd freeze out there) Say lend me a comb (It's up to your knees out there) You've really been grand (I thrill when you touch my hand) But don't you see? (How can you do this thing to me?) There's bound to be talk tomorrow (Think of my life-long sorrow) At least there will be plenty implied (If you caught pneumonia and died) I really can't stay (Get over that old out) AH BUT ITS COLD OUTSIDE! (Where you could be going when the wind is blowing and it's cold outside?) BABY ITS COLD, COLD OUTSIDE! |

When an early autumn walks the land and chills the breeze
and touches with her hand the summer trees, perhaps you'll understand what memories I own. There's a dance pavilion in the rain all shuttered down, a winding country lane all russet brown, a frosty window pane shows me a town grown lonely. That spring of ours that started so April-hearted, seemed made for just a boy and girl. I never dreamed, did you, any fall would come in view so early, early. Darling if you care, please, let me know, I'll meet you anywhere, I miss you so. Let's never have to share another early autumn. |

Day in - day out
That same old voodoo follows me about That same old pounding in my heart, whenever I think of you And baby I think of you Day in and day out Day out - day in I needn't tell you how my days begin When I awake I get up with a tingle One possibility in view That possibility of maybe seeing you Come rain - come shine I meet you and to me the day is fine Then I kiss your lips, and the pounding becomes An oceans roar, a thousand drums Can't you see it's love, can there be any doubt When there it is, day in - day out |

Skylark
Have you anything to say to me? Won't you tell me where my love can be? Is there a meadow in the mist Where someone's waiting to be kissed? Oh skylark Have you seen a valley green with spring? Where my heart can go a journeying Over the shadows and the rain To a blossom covered lane And in your lonely flight Haven't you heard the music in the night? Wonderful music Faint as a will o' the wisp Crazy as a loon Sad as a gypsty serenading the moon Oh skylark I don't know if you can find these things But my heart is riding on your wings So if you see them anywhere Won't you lead me there Oh skylark Won't you lead me there? |

Somethings gotta give,
Somethings gotta give somethings gotta give When an irresistible force such as you Meets and old immovable object like me You can bet as sure as you live Something's gotta give, something's gotta give, Something's gotta give. When an irrepressible smile such as yours Warms an old implacable heart such as mine Don't say no because I insist. Somewhere, somehow, Someone's gonna be kissed. So en garde who knows what the fates have in store From their vast mysterious sky? I'll try hard ignoring those lips I adore But how long can anyone try? Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight it with all of our might, Chances are some heavenly star spangled night We'll find out as sure as we live Something's gotta give, something's gotta give, Something's gotta give. Fight, fight, fight it with all of our might, Chances are some heavenly star spangled night We'll find out as sure as we live Something's gotta give, something's gotta give, Something's gotta give. Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice, warmer than the summer night
The clouds were like an alabaster palace rising to a snowy height. Each star it's own aurora borealis, suddenly you held me tight, I could see the Midnight Sun. I can't explain the silver rain that found me--or was that a moonlight veil? The music of the universe around me, or was that a nightingale? And then your arms miraculously found me,suddenly the sky turned pale, I could see the Midnight Sun. Was there such a night, it's a thrill I still don't quite believe, But after you were gone, there was still some stardust on my sleeve. The flame of it may dwindle to an ember, and the stars forget to shine, And we may see the meadow in December, icy white and crystalline. But oh my darling always I'll remember when your lips were close to mine, And we saw the Midnight Sun. |

Heaven, I’m in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we’re out together dancing cheek to cheek Heaven, I’m in heaven And the cares that hung around me through the week Seem to vanish like a gambler’s lucky streak When we’re out together dancing cheek to cheek Oh I love to climb a mountain And reach the highest peak But it doesn’t thrill me half as much As dancing cheek to cheek Oh I love to go out fishing In a river or a creek But I don’t enjoy it half as much As dancing cheek to cheek Come on and Dance with me I want my arms about you That charm about you Will carry me through... To heaven, I’m in heaven And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we’re out together dancing dancing cheek to cheek |

Just like a leaf that has flown away Gone with the wind My romance has blown away Yesterday's kisses are still on my lips, I've had a lifetime of heaven at my fingertips. But now all-all is gone. As I hitched and hiked and grifted too, from Maine to Albuquerque Alas, I missed the Beaux Arts Ball, and what is twice as sad I was never been to a party where they honored Noel Ca-ad (Coward) But social circles spin too fast for me My "hobohemia" is the place to be I get too hungry, for dinner at eight I like the theater, but never come late I never bother, with people I hate That's why the lady is a tramp I don't like crap games, with barons and earls Won't go to Harlem, in ermine and pearls Won't dish the dirt, with the rest of the girls That's why the lady is a tramp I like the free, fresh wind in my hair Life without care I'm broke, it's o'k Hate California, it's cold and it's damp That's why the lady is a tramp Girls get massages, they cry and they moan Tell slender Ella to leave me alone I'm not so hot, but my shape is my own That's why the lady is a tramp The food at the Kopensky is perfect, no doubt I couldn't tell you what the Ritz is about Drop a nickle in, and coffee comes out That's why the lady is a tramp Like the sweet, fresh, rain in my face Diamonds and lace, no got, so what?! for Frank Sinatra, I whistle and stamp That's why the lady is a tramp She's a hobo She's a scamp She's a no-good kinda tramp That's why the lady is a tramp ***this song's the "Ella In Berlin" CD version*** |

Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high Oh, your daddy's rich and your ma is good-lookin' So hush little baby, Don't you cryOne of these mornings you're gonna rise up singing And you'll spread your wings and you'll take to the sky But 'til that morning, there ain't nothin' can harm you With Daddy and Mammy standin' byOne of these mornings you're gonna rise up singing And you'll spread your wings and you'll take to the sky But 'til that morning, there ain't nothin can harm you With Daddy and Mammy standin' by |

It's too darn hot,
It's too darn hot. I'd like to sup with my baby tonight, Fulfill the cup with my baby tonight. I'd like to sup with my baby tonight, Fulfill the cup with my baby tonight, But I ain't up to my baby tonight, 'Cause it's too darn hot. It's too darn hot, It's too darn hot. I'd like to coo with my baby tonight, And pitch the woo with my baby tonight. I'd like to coo with my baby tonight, And pitch the woo with my baby tonight. But sister you'll fight my baby tonight 'Cause it's too darn hot. It's too darn hot, According to the latest Report Ev'ry average girl you know Much prefers her lovely doggie to court When the temperature is low, But when the thermometer goes 'way up And the weather is sizzling hot, Mister Adam For his madam. {Spoken} Thank you. We'd like to do something for you now.
We haven't heard a girl sing it. And since it's so popular, we'd like to try and do it for you. We hope we remember all the words.{} Oh, the shark has pearly teeth, dear And he shows them, pearly white Just a jack knife has Macheath, dear And he keeps it out of sight Oh, the shark bites with his teeth, dear Scarlet billows start to spread Fancy gloves though, wears Macheath dear So there's not, not a trace of red On a Sunday, Sunday morning Lies a body, oozin' life Someone's sneaking 'round the corner Tell me could it be, could it be, could it be Mack the Knife? Oh, what's the next chorus? To this song, now This is the one, now I don't know But it was a swinging tune And its a hit tune So we tried to do Mack The Knife Ah, Louis Miller Oh, something about cash Yeah, Miller, he was spending that trash And Macheath dear, he spends like a sailor Tell me, tell me, tell me Could that boy do, something rash Oh Bobby Darin, and Louis Armstrong They made a record, oh but they did And now Ella, Ella, and her fellas We're making a wreck, what a wreck Of Mack The Knife {Louis Armstrong imitation} Oh Snookie Taudry, bah bah bah nop do bo de do bah bah bah nop do bo de do Just a jack knife has Macheath, dear And do bo bo bah bah bah nop do bo de do {} So, you've heard it Yes, we've swung it And we tried to Yes, we sung it You won't recognize it It's a surprise hit This tune, called Mack The Knife And so we leave you, in Berlin town Yes, we've swung old Mack We've swung old Mack in town For the Darin fans, And for the Louis Armstrong fans, too We told you look out, look out, look out Old Macheath's back in town |

How High the moon - (Nancy Hamilton / Morgan Lewis)
Somewhere there's music How faint the tune Somewhere there's heaven How high the moon There is no moon above When love is far away too Till it comes true That you love me as I love you Somewhere there's music How near, how far Somewhere there's heaven It's where you are The darkest night would shine If you would come to me soon Until you will, how still my heart How high the moon Somewhere there's music How faint the tune Somewhere there's heaven How high the moon The darkest night would shine If you would come to me soon Until you will, how still my heart How high the moon |

from At First Sight (사랑이 머무는 풍경) by Mark Isham [ost] (1998)
"Our romance won't end on a sorrowful note
Though by tomorrow you're gone The song has ended but as the songwriter wrote, The melody lingers on. They may take you from me, I'll miss your fond caress But though they take you from me, I'll still possess... The way you wear your hat The way you sip your tea The memory of all that No they can't take that away from me The way your smile just beams The way you sing off key The way you haunt my dreams No, no they can't take that away from me We may never never meet again, on that bumpy road to love Still I'll always, always keep the memory of The way you hold your knife The way we danced till three The way you changed my life No, no they can't take that away from me No, they can't take that away from me." |

Say, it's only a paper moon, Sailing over a cardboard sea, But it wouldn't be make believe, If you believed in me. Yes, it's only a canvas sky, Hanging over a muslin tree, But it wouldn't be make believe, If you believed in me. (chorus) Without your love, It's a honky tonk parade, Without your love, It's a melody played, At a penny arcade. It's a Barnum and Bailey world, Just as phony, As it can be, But it wouldn't be make believe, If you believed in me. (repeat chorus & last verse to end song) |

We're sitting out here on the runway,
Waiting for the plane to leave, And the captain says, "There'll be a short delay, Bear with me please," They gave us the usual hassle, "You can't take those guitars on board," But the boys in the band just smiled, Heard it all before, And as they're starting to serve champagne, To the folks at the front of the plane, I can hear the engines roaring, we're on our way, And we are flying home, I feel the freedom in my soul, Flying home at last; Flying home, I've got the freedom in my soul, And it's four in the morning, My world is calling, Speeding through the universe tonight... The movie reminds of my lady, As she waits, "where are those guys?" Yes it's nice to see old Butch and Sundance in the sky, And now the sun is beginning to rise, It's like looking down on Paradise, There's a ball of fire that's burning, giving life, And we are flying home, I feel the freedom in my soul, Flying home at last; Flying home, I've got the freedom in my soul, And it's four in the morning, My world is calling, Speeding through the universe tonight... |

and to other places aggra- vate all our cares. We'll save our fares! I've a cozy little flat in what is known as old Manhattan we'll settle down right here in town! We'll have Manhattan the Bronx and Staten Island too. It's lovely going through the zoo! It's very fancy on old Delancy street you know. The subway charms us so when balmy breezes blow to and fro. And tell me what street compares with Mott Street in July? Sweet pushcarts gently gli-ding by. The great big city's a wonderous toy just made for a girl and boy. We'll turn Manhattan into an isle of joy! We'll go to Yonkers Where true love conquers In the whiles And starve together dear, in Chiles We'll go to Coney And eat baloney on a roll In Central Park we'll stroll Where our first kiss we stole Soul to soul And ""My Fair Lady"" is a terrific show they say We both may see it close, some day The city's glamour can never spoil The dreams of a boy and goil We'll turn Manhattan into an isle of joy! Transcribed by Todd Peach . c o m> (from this specific recording) Guy from Bath England sent me this more complete version: VERSE Summer journeys to Niag'ra And to other places aggra- vate all our cares. We'll save our fares; I've a cozy little flat in What is known as old Manhattan, We'll settle down Right here in town. CHORUS 1 We'll have Manhattan, The Bronx and Staten Island too. It's lovely going through the Zoo. It's very fancy On old Delancey Street you know. The subway charms us so, When balmy breezes blow To and fro. And tell me what street Compares with Mott Street In July? Sweet pushcarts gently gliding by. The great big city's a wondrous toy Just made for a girl and boy -- We'll turn Manhattan Into an isle of joy. CHORUS 2 We'll go to Greenwich, Where modern men itch To be free, And Bowling Green you'll see with me. We'll bathe at Brighton, The fish you'll frighten When you're in, Your bathing suit so thin Will make the shellfish grin, Fin to fin. I'd like to take a Sail on Jamaica Bay with you, And fair Canarsie's Lakes we'll view. The city's bustle cannot destroy The dreams of a girl and boy -- We'll turn Manhattan Into an isle of joy. CHORUS 3 We'll go to Yonkers, Where true love conquers In the wilds And starve together, dear, in Childs'. We'll go to Coney And eat bologny On a roll, In Central Park we'll stroll Where our first kiss we stole, Soul to soul. And South Pacific Is a terrific Show they say, We both may see it close some day. The city's clamour can never spoil The dreams of a boy and goil -- We'll turn Manhattan Into an isle of joy. CHORUS 4 We'll have Manhattan, The Bronx and Staten Island too, We'll try to cross Fifth Avenue. As black as onyx We'll find the Bronix Park Express, Our Flatbush flat, I guess, Will be a great success, More or less. A short vacation On Inspiration Point we'll spend, And in the station house we'll end. But Civic Virtue cannot destroy The dreams of a girl and boy -- We'll turn Manhattan Into an isle of joy! |

Night breezes seem to whisper, 'I love you,' Birds singing in the sycamore tree. Dream a little dream of me. Say nighty-night and kiss me. Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me. While I'm alone and blue as can be, Dream a little dream of me. Stars fading, but I linger on, dear, Still craving your kiss. I'm longing to linger 'till dawn, dear, Just saying this: Sweet dreams 'till sunbeams find you, Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you. But in your dreams, whatever they be. Dream a little dream of me. |
