INTRODUCTION
무명에 어떤 프로모션도 하지 않은 채 발매했던 첫 번째 앨범이 시부야 쪽에서만 4000장 이상 팔려나가는 것으로 시작, 이제는 뚜렷한 음악 세계를 지닌 거물급 아티스트로 부상한 FreeTEMPO. 그의 데뷔부터 지금의 그가 되기까지 지대한 영향을 미쳤던 프로듀서가 있다. 포레스트넛 레코드(forestnauts records)의 설립자이기도 한 스즈키 신이치 가 바로 그 천재적인 재능의 프로듀서이다.
80~90년대 다양한 서브 컬쳐의 영향 속에 자라왔던 스즈키 신이치는 자신의 레이블
포레스트넛 레코드를 2000년도에 자신의 고향인 센다이에 설립, 시부야 케이 무브먼트에 본격 동참한다. FreeTEMPO를 발굴해 내면서 센다이 특유의 노스탤지어가 녹아 있는 자신의 음악 세계를 간접적으로 알릴 수 있었으며 중소 도시에 머물면서 활동하는 소신 있는 아티스트로서의 자리매김을 확실히 하였다. 또한 소속 아티스트의 논 프로모션(non promotion)으로 악명(?)높은 포레스트넛 레코드는 음악성으로만 승부 보겠다는 장인정신을 발휘, 매번 발매되는 음반마다 높은 판매고를 올리고 있다.
이러한 에스프리의 소유자 스즈키 신이치와 역시 센다이 출신의 작곡자이자 크리에이터 와타나베 노보루와가 만나 자신들만의 하우스 유닛 ‘Weekenders’를 결성하였다. ‘Weekenders’는 역시 논 프로모션의 첫 번째 미니 앨범 『BEAUTIFUL DREAMER』 가 발매 직후 만장 이상 팔려나가는 등, ‘먹히는’ 센다이 풍의 사운드의 핵심에 서 있는 대표 아티스트이다. 5월 20일 한국에서의 『BEAUTIFUL DREAMER』 라이센스 앨범 발매를 기념하여, 6월 한국에서 <BEAUTIFUL DREAMER>투어를 예정 중에 있다. ....  ....
