INTRODUCTION
지난 10년이라는 세월 동안 THERION은 최고의 실력으로 메탈 음악에 클래식의 요소를 훌륭히 융합하여 자신들의 세련된 방식으로 정제해 왔는데 이들의 멋진 메탈 리프에 더해진 장대한 오페라적인 느낌은 교향악적인 요소와 층층이 복잡하게 입혀진 합창으로 물 흐르듯 자연스러운 구성을 완벽하게 담아내고 있다. 더블 씨디 형식의 이번 새로운 앨범LEMU RIA와 SIRUS B 두 장의 앨범을 함께 담고 있으며 자신들의 음악적인 기술을 완벽하게 실어내고 있는 동시에 이전 어떤 앨범에서도 오래 전THERION의 헤비하면서도 야만적인 면모를 드러낸 적이 없었을 것이다. 170명이 넘는 뮤지션과 합창단원이 동원된 LEMURIA와 SIRUS B의 녹음 과정은 무려 9개월을 훨씬 넘겼으며 이 장대한 여정은 위대한 음악의 파노라마와 깊은 감동 그리고 아름다운 멜로디를 결과로서 훌륭히 드러내주고 있다. 이번 앨범에 수록된 곡들 중 TYPHOON, BLOOD OF KINGU, KALI YUGA PT. 1 AND 2와 같은 메탈적인 곡은 물론 서사시적인 사운드 트랙THE THREE SHIPS OF BERIK PT. 1 AND 2, CALL OF DRAGON 같은 곡들은 종종 서로의 장르를 쉽게 넘나들고 있다.
THERION은 CHRISTOPHER JOHNSSON, PETER HANSSON, OSKAR FORSS에 의해서 1987년 최초 BLITZKRIEG 라는 이름으로 결성되었지만 1988년 밴드 명을 THERION로 개명하고 몇 장의 데모와 미니 LP TIME SHALL TELL을 선보인 후, 1991년 발매된 대망의 첫 번째 데뷔 앨범 OF DARKNESS......을 통해 메탈 언더그라운드에서 첫 번째 성공을 얻게 된다.
독특한 실험적인 사운드에 대한 야망과 발전의 면모를 가지고 있던 창조적인 데스 메탈 밴드로 시작되었던 THERION은 1991년부터 1996년까지 해가 지날수록 혁신적인 앨범을 발매하였지만 CHRISTOPHER만이 오리지널 멤버로 잔류하는 라인 업 변동을 겪은 뒤 1996년 THELI 앨범을 발매하면서 새로운 돌파구를 마련하게 된다.
동시에 THERION은 이미 자신들의 데스 메탈을 더욱 오페라 같으면서도 프로그레시브적인 동양적인 분위기를 창출하는 음악적인 한계를 넘을 준비를 마치게 된다. 1998년 발매된 THERION 역사상 최고의 판매고를 올린 VOVIN (125,000장)에서 이들은 최초로 진정한 오케스트라 교향곡 사운드를 도입하면서 자신들의 음악의 새로운 절정에 이르게 되었고 당시 유일한 멤버인 CHRISTOPHER는 스튜디오 뮤지션 몇 명과만 녹음작업을 진행했기에 이 앨범은 그의 솔로 앨범으로 평가 받고 있다.
이어 발매된 DEGGIAL 앨범에서는 CHRISTOPHER가 새롭게 변화시킨 교향악적인 오페라 메탈이 계속해서 빛을 발하고 있을 뿐 아니라 새롭게 가입한 KRISTIAN과 JOHANN NIEMANN을 THERION호에 편승 시키면서 VOIVOD와 FLOWING TEARS을 서포트로, 첫 번째 헤드 라이너 투어를 시작하게 된다.
이 시점으로부터 1년이 지나 발매된 SECRET OF THE RUNES는 북유럽 신화와 전통 음악의 지대한 영향을 받은 THERION의 첫 번째 컨셉트 앨범의 형태로 발매되었고, 2002년에는 밴드의 결성 15주년을 맞아 첫 번째 라이브 앨범 LIVE IN MIDGARD를 발매하였다. 동시에 새로운 앨범 작업을 시작한 THERION은 LEMURIA/SIRUS B의 두 장의 형태로 윤곽이 잡혀졌고 이번 새로운 앨범은 THERION을 클래식 음악의 신전으로 향하는 그들의 여정에 새로운 장을 기록할 앨범으로 평가 받을 것이다. 진정으로 어떤 메탈 음악도 LEMURIA/SIRUS B보다 오케스트라 적이진 못 할 것이다!! ....  ....

CD 1 : [ Lemuria ] ★★★CD 2 : [ Sirius B ] ★★★★근래 개봉했거나 개봉할 헐리우드 영화들을 보면 신화와 전설을 난도질하여 인스턴트 식품으로 만들곤 한다. 하나의 경향인데 예정되었던 신화의 해체라고 해두자. 대중음악이 이런 소재들을 다뤄온 것은 오래 된 일이지만 패러디 정도를 제외하면, 왜곡이든 재해석이든, 그다지 과하게 비틀지는 않았고, 결국 축은 늘 음악이었기에 심도 있는 재해석도 눈에 쉽게 띄지 않았다. 음악은 무엇과 인간을 매개함을 통해야만 생성되는 것이 아니라 소리로 소리를 만들며 홀로 존재할 수 있고, 다른 예술형식에선 한 단계를 생략하는 것이 실험이 되지만 음악은 애초부터 직접적이어서 어떤 것을 매개하는 것이 실험이 된다. 물론 단서가 필요하다. 크리스토퍼(Ch...
